How to Fix Wedding Disasters

Oh no! The wedding cake is frozen, your hairstylist is sick.. what to do?
Don't worry, we have the best solution to your wedding day woes.

THERE ARE NO BUSTLING LOOPS AND BUTTONS ON YOUR DRESS
Quick fix: Forget about creating a bustle. These days, most gowns have shorter trains that are easier to manage without manipulating the back of the skirt. If your train is superlong, drape the fabric around your arm or carry it by the attached train loop. Never use pins, which can damage your gown.

YOU FORGOT TO BRING THE WEDDING LICENSE TO THE CEREMONY
Quick fix: If there's no tim to send someone to fetch it, let your officiant know, says Reverent Christopher Tuttle, president of the National Association of Wedding Officiants. He'll probably proceed with one ceremony, as long as you, the groom, and your witness(es) can meet with him later that week to sign the document. (In general, a signed marriage license must be filed 3 to 10 days after the wedding).

THE CAKE IS FROZEN
Quick fix: Unless it came right out of the freeer, the buttercream frosting, at least, should be soft enough for the cake-cutting ceremony, says Robyn Van Tuyl of Robyn Loves Cake in Goleta, CA. Later, the caterer should take the tiers apart to hasten thawing.

IT'S RAINING, AND IT'S A LOG WALK FROM THE LIMO TO THE CHURCH ENTRANCE
Quick fix: Have the ushers form a line with umbrellas, then throw on some flats for the dash to the door. Ask the limo driver to carry your train (don't ask your maid of honor or the bridesmaids - they don't want to get wet either!).

YOUR HAIRSTYLIST PHONES IN SICK
Quick fix: Ask if she has a backup on call, says LA wedding consultant Stephanie Lairson. No go? Have her give you a referral, or get your bridesmaids to divvy up the phone book and start calling salons.

THE DJ PLAYS THE WRONG FIRST-DANCE SONG
Quick fix: If you like the song that he's playing, shrug it off and keep dancing. If it's definitely not your style, don't freak out or cause a scene - just stop the DJ and ask him to put on the right song.
